Commercial and Corporate Lending Level 5

About the Programme

Banks face increasing credit risk with a rise in non-performing loans.

Advance your career – and increase your leadership potential – by gaining a solid grounding in corporate and commercial lending.

On this programme – delivered online by industry practitioners – you’ll learn how to confidently analyse and structure internal credit approvals and offer comprehensive advice to your customers.

Why study This programme?

The Covid pandemic and subsequent economic downturn has hit businesses across the world and caused a global increase in non-performing loans. As the world economy recovers, banks need people they can rely on to get credit approvals right.

In just six months, you can learn:

  • how to analyse lending positions
  • how to structure the best solutions for businesses across the sectors – even those with specialised services
  • about mid-market lending, and
  • more about the financial and practical aspects of business relationships – particularly those with corporate and commercial customers.

When you’ve successfully completed the qualification, you’ll be able to use the ‘CCL’ designation after your name.

CCL is part of the Professional Diploma in Banking and Finance (PDipB&F), which is the first stage towards chartered status with The London Institute of Banking & Finance.

CCL has one module, teaching:

  • credit monitoring, control and recovery
  • legal aspects and implications of insolvency
  • parameters to justify lending decisions
  • how to make appropriate recommendations in specific cases
  • the general principles of security and the legal and practical implications of different types of security.

CCL runs twice a year, but you can register whenever you’re ready. Throughout your studies, you’ll have access to a tutor-led forum with group activities. You’ll also receive the following study materials to support your progress:

  • online access to all learning materials, including videos, quizzes and other interactive activities
  • the unit syllabus
  • weekly study planner
  • a specimen exam with model answers, and
  • live and recorded webinars
  • access to our virtual library, KnowledgeBank.

The course takes six months to complete and you will be assessed in a three-hour session-based typed exam.
